Oh yeah, been slacking on the updates. Forgive us.
We’re been getting ready to start recording some new tracks and we’ve been playing some gigs in SoCal.
Saturday the 19th (tomorrow, I know) you can find us in Marina Del Rey at Brennan’s Pub
We’ll be taking a couple of weeks off after that as our boy, Shawn, has his wedding and honeymoon. Our condolences congratulations to Him and the beautiful Marianne. We’re pretty jazzed. Mebbe we can do a show with her band now.

Ok, just wanted to give an update. Looks like we had some cobwebs building up. Promise to be more on it.
Peace

Coming up on May 1st is the 30-Something Annual Mod’s May Day at The Bullet in Hollywood!
As you can see from this next image here dated 1979, these scooter rallies have been going on for a while. It’s nice to be part of the tradition:

In other New Fi news, two songs from our new EP All Here Now, Simple Things, and Dark Eyes, are going to be used in a brand new Matthew Perry pilot for Sony Pictures called Mr. Sunshine. Matthew Perry of course was Chandler on NBC’s Friends, and also was in 17 Again. Also our song Setting Sun from the same EP is that was part of a romantic Vespa Scooter chase scene in a Henry Winkler indie film is FINALLY supposed to be released, over 2 YEARS after it was filmed. We’ll keep you updated on that. Move on up.

The New Fidelity’s just licensed our song “No Way Back” to NBC for this Tuesday’s Episode 2 of Parenthood to air on March 9th, 2010.
“If you watched NBC’s coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics, you surely saw an ad, likely many, of NBC’s new drama series Parenthood starring Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls
fame. The show, which is produced by the acclaimed Brian Grazer, has
been a critic favorite for many months and tonight the network is
finally premiering it.”
Our song appears in scene 2 1 minute 25 second sync- background vocal scene 2: “Roosevelt HS- The principal tells Amber her lack of credits puts her as a sophmore”. “No Way Back” is available through iTunes on our record Tiny Slivers.

Ever wonder who wrote one of those 60’s covers we often perform live? New fi’s Dan had a blast sitting in on Episode #140 of Mister Suave’s Mod Mod World Podcast over the weekend playing a set of the original mod classics The New Fidelity have covered live including gems by The Kinks, The Jam, Small Faces, Left Banke, Billy Butler, The 101′ers and The Quick. It’s a great way to get even more out of our live show- hear the originals on the podcast, and then see us play them live at our shows. There is also an unreleased version of us playing The Who’s Kids Are Alright.

What is Mod Mod World? Mr. Suave’s Mod, Mod World is the web’s original modcast celebrating mod music, and mod-influenced music from past eras including soul, ska, garage, sixties R&B, power pop, punk, britpop, acid jazz, lounge, easy listening and more. Back before there were helmet laws, there were The Concords!

Concords Scooter Rally 2009
Back before there were helmet laws, there was The Concords Scooter Club who first met in the Long Beach and Orange County area in the 80’s to share a love of scooters and Mod culture and are still going strong! They were a tight group that dressed sharp and whose only mantra was to be Mod, party like Mods and enjoy 60’s and 60’s influenced music. They lived the life style to the fullest and the club is still going strong today!
Their now-annual rally and 60’s party is this Saturday at DiPiazza’s in Long Beach and will be a blast!
Last year’s event was a great time and we expect more of the same this year. Joining us on stage are The Commotions and some great 60’s Jamaican Ska from Kingston A Go Go and The Supressors. The Long Beach Classic Scooter Club is organizing the day ride portion of this great 60’s party, and Club Impact Scooter Club members DJKev and DJSpot are spinning vinyl along with DJ rally. Unity! The New Fidelity goes on 3rd at around 11pm. See you there!

We just got some pictures in over the weekend from photographer Fernando Guerrero of a show we did with the mod supergroup Magic Christian a few months back. The band includes Plimsouls guitarist Eddie Munoz, Cyril Jordan from The Flaming Groovics and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Clem Burke from Blondie. The band needed a warmup for their South By Southwest string of dates over the next weekend and asked us to put a show together. It was a blast, and Billy, our drummer was stoked the see and hear Clem on The New Fidelity’s 70’s English Premier drum kit. Thanks Fernando for the photos, better late than never!

Earlier in the evening New Fidelity guitarist Shawn Malone looks out at everyone dancing.

The New Fidelity would like to thank UK Podcast Dalecast for spinning three of our songs back to back from our Tiny Slivers record on a recent episode of it’s Podcast. The songs played were 2nd Once In A Lifetime Girl, Blue Eyed Girl, and Days When She Was Mine. Also played just after us were Los Angeles indie rockers Great Northern which was also cool to hear.
The Dalecast is a weekly multi-format podcast “from Frosterley…. in the Heart of Weardale, UK” and has had over 55,000 downloads of it’s podcast since starting in 2007.

Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan with New Fidelity singer Dan Perkins
We just ran into this again pic that was taken a few months back at our show at The Beauty Bar in Las Vegas. The Smashing Pumpkins were playing the next night in town and lead man Billy Corgan decided to stop by The Beauty Bar and check out The New Fidelity show. It was really cool to get a chance to meet him after our performance. If your wondering what Billy is holding in his hand, that’s a Couch Guitar Straps guitar strap that was given to him by New Fidelity singer Dan Perkins. In addition to playing in The New Fidelity, Dan owns the Long Beach company that makes these vinyl vegan guitar straps that recently won Best In Show at the giant annual NAMM Music Products show in Anaheim. The band also got a chance to meet Killers bass player Mark Stoermer who was also in attendance that night. By the way, the show was a blast!
